Intent of Our Offer - Turning Point Leeds

At Turning Point Leeds, our Art curriculum is designed to nurture creativity, self-expression, and emotional well-being through engaging and therapeutic art sessions. We aim to inspire students to explore various artistic mediums and techniques, fostering a deep appreciation for the visual arts and the healing power of creative expression.

We believe in the therapeutic value of art, providing a safe and supportive environment where students can explore their emotions, reduce stress, and build confidence. Our fully equipped art studio offers a range of materials and resources, allowing students to experiment and develop their unique artistic voice. Our sessions are led by experienced art teachers who are dedicated to encouraging personal growth and emotional resilience through art.

Implementation

KS3

In Key Stage 3, all students follow a curriculum that aligns with national standards for Art and Design. They engage in a variety of practical lessons designed to build their skills and knowledge in different artistic techniques and mediums. Our art studio provides an ideal space for students to practice and refine their skills, whether in painting, drawing, sculpture, or mixed media.

Our curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including traditional and contemporary art practices, art history, and the exploration of personal and cultural themes. We emphasize the therapeutic aspects of art, encouraging students to use creative activities as a means of self-expression and emotional exploration. Students are assessed through both formative and summative assessments, ensuring they achieve the necessary competencies to progress.

Impact

Through our comprehensive Art curriculum, we aim to enhance students' artistic skills, emotional well-being, and academic achievement. By the time they leave Turning Point Leeds, students will have gained valuable artistic expertise, an understanding of the therapeutic benefits of art, and the confidence to express themselves creatively in their future endeavours.
