Intent of Our Offer - Turning Point Leeds

At Turning Point Leeds, our goal is to foster a deep appreciation for language and literature, while enhancing students' communication skills in various contexts. We expose students to a range of texts from contemporary authors as well as classics from our literary heritage. We encourage students to broaden their language use in terms of style, vocabulary, structure, and form, providing them with the tools to become imaginative and compelling writers.

Literacy and a passion for reading are at the heart of our curriculum, promoting a lifelong love of reading. We believe that reading is key to understanding and engaging with the world, and we use it as a tool to enhance students' learning and their participation in the wider community.

To ensure personalised learning, we will use information from the schools where students are currently enrolled to create customised educational packages. These tailored packages aim to improve outcomes when students return to mainstream educational settings.

Implementation

KS3

In Key Stage 3, students follow the National Curriculum's aims and objectives. They work towards individual targets set by teachers and are assessed through both formative and summative assessments.
Our goal is to prepare students for the challenges of GCSE exams by teaching them techniques to tackle complex questions typically found in these assessments.

Impact

Our diverse and comprehensive English curriculum aims to boost students' academic performance. By the time students leave Turning Point Leeds, they will have gained cultural knowledge and essential communication skills to succeed in their future endeavors.
